A PIERCED MOMMA

Piercings are more popular than ever and many moms-to-be worry that their belly and nipple rings aren't safe to keep in during pregnancy and breastfeeding. But according to the Association of Professional Piercers, belly rings are generally safe to keep in throughout your pregnancy. However, it's a good idea to exchange your metal jewelry for one made of flexible nylon, which will stretch as you grow and will be more comfortable. After you deliver you can replace your original metal jewelry.

If you have nipple rings, you should still be able to breastfeed and it's usually safe; just be sure that the jewelry doesn't fall out and become a choking risk for your baby. Many women choose to remove their nipple jewelry while breastfeeding and, as a result, some milk may come from the site of the piercing during nursing, which is not at all harmful or problematic.

I am on my fourth pregnancy and I have kept my belly ring in with all four. I think that it's up to you. Don't let others make up your mind.

hi i just wanted to add im pregnant again also but will be opting for a plastic stretchy retainer bar through this pregnancy because your belly will stretch quite a bit and it will be much more comfortable

Great issue!! 7 years ago during my first pregnancy I gained over 100lbs and keeping my belly ring in wasn't even a problem.... if it wasn't for me, I can't believe anyone else should have a problem!!!!
