Spring Review
Among the newest fashion trends, a classic resurfaces: ruffled hems. First created in the late 1800s, the ruffled hem became a favorite of the social elite. By the 1920s, fashionable women everywhere had a ruffled hemmed gown in her trousseau. Over the course of the last century, the ruffled hem has evolved into a classic style.
Christian Dior has taken the traditional ruffled hem and thrown it out the window to create the perfect modern version. Instead of the usual tight, diminutive ruffles that adorned garments of the past, Dior has created voluptuous ruffles reminiscent of cascading ocean waves. The curviform ensemble is visually exquisite, exuding elegance and class.
A lovely accent for this piece by Cadeau, the wide ruffled hem finishes this simply styled dress. Note: Ruffles are usually seen on very basic styles because when combined with another accent or bold print, the result can be overkill.
This season, ruffles are a girl's best friend! |
