What is your background in fashion/maternity fashion?

We had already established a successful lingerie company when we decided to add a maternity line. My partner Heidi Rauch and I come from various backgrounds originally. One of the things she used to do is design dance costumes.

What motivated you to enter the maternity fashion world?

When I was pregnant for the first time it was obviously time to add nursing bras! I hated the options out there, and wanted something prettier, sexier and much more comfy.

What makes the Belabumbum clothing line different from others?

I think we offer the best combo of beauty, comfort and functionality. We have been making lingerie now for over 10 years and we know what women like and we know how to make a beautiful garment. We have been pregnant and nursing moms and we know what feels good and what works!

When was the Belabumbum line first created? Has the design/style changed much since the line first came out?

We started Belabumbum in 2000. We started our maternity line in 2002. Styles have adapted with trends but the basic bones of our line have not changed. We try to consistently provide fashion-forward, pretty, and elegant choices for pregnant and nursing women. We have really expanded the materials we work with over the years. For example we have grown our green line. We use lots of bamboo and this last season we used organic cotton died with fruits from the Amazon.

How would you best describe the Belabumbum clothing line?

I would say we are happy, colorful, and fashion forward.

Are there any fashion tips/tricks that you could pass along to our pregnant readers?

Use this time to show off your beautiful curves of course. If you used to be shy about your belly because you though it wasn’t the right size, show it off now, because it is undoubtedly just perfect now! A supportive but pretty bra is a must. Loungewear that you can sleep in, nurse in and feel presentable in front of the in laws is essential. Belabumbum will help you feel pampered, sexy, and just plain cool during what is truly one of the most important times of your life– during and after pregnancy.

AND don’t be afraid to accessorize. A good pair of earrings, necklace, ect. doesn’t come in S-M-L!
