Maternity Bra-Buying Tips

According to a recent Oprah episode, a whopping 85 percent of women are guilty of buying the wrong bra size. It should pain every woman to know that millions of breasts across America are being mistreated! Take these tips with you the next time you walk into a Victoria's Secret:

Size Yourself Regularly - Measure your torso underneath your breasts. If the number is even, add 4; if it's odd, add 5. Next, measure around the fullest part of your bust and compare numbers: A one-inch difference makes you an A cup, two inches, a B, and so on.

Check the Fit in the Mirror - The cups should lie smoothly against your skin, the underwire should rest on your rib cage, and the center-front panel should lie against the chest wall.

Don't Forget the Back View - The band should rest against the middle of your back without hiking up. Also, the straps should sit firmly on your shoulders without sliding or leaving red marks.

Attention to Material - If your skin is sensitive, try buying all-cotton bras, which are generally less irritating.

Know When to Toss It - After about six months of constant wear, most bras will start losing elasticity. When you start to feel a looser fit or have to adjust straps frequently, it's time to toss it.
