Maximize Your Glow

Many of the skin changes you may experience during pregnancy aren't terribly attractive, including increased acne, melasma, and stretch marks. But the increased blood coursing through your body does give you a lovely pregnancy glow. Make the most of your new beautiful radiance with these tips:

Use Sunscreen
Make sure to put sunscreen on every morning before applying your makeup. Even during the winter months, the sun's damaging UV rays can dry your skin, cause premature aging, break down cells and even cause cancer. Many facial creams contain sunscreen, so apply it faithfully.

Cleanse Gently
Try avoiding scrubs as they can irritate your skin and buy water-based cosmetics that wash off easily so you don't have to scrub as hard to remove them completely. And stop using any cleanser if you have a reaction to it.

Moisturize
Even if your skin may become oilier during pregnancy, don't forgo your daily moisturizer. It's important to keep it soft and supple. Try a good water-based moisturizer that will minimize the oil and won't clog your pores, but will still keep your skin nourished.

Get Enough Sleep
The discomfort of later pregnancy can keep you from a good night's sleep. To relax you and help you sleep, try getting a prenatal massage; or better yet, have your partner give you a nice back rub or foot massage just before bed. Or try drinking a mug of warm milk at bedtime while listening to classical music.

Drink Lots of Water
You should drink between 8 to 10 glasses of water every day - that's about two quarts. If plain water just doesn't tantalize your taste buds, try a sparkling variety, or squeeze a little fruit juice in your glass.
